2016 -Year of Brillouin, E-cat X and SunCell

The years 2014 and 2015 saw frenzied nuclear industries engage governments in securing long-term contracts for either building more nuclear reactors or extending operational certification of ageing ones. Also, operators of legacy nuclear plants in Canada, Finland and USA fought hard for approvals to construct geologic dumps for their accumulating radioactive wastes. Meanwhile, ITER and CERN lobbied big governments to infuse more billions into hot fusion/fission research.

This sudden activity was prompted by the surge in electricity generation via renewables (solar/wind) and particularly by the prospect of an alternative source of distributed energy undercutting the cost of fossil fuels, nuclear and renewables. Indeed, nuclear CEOs and politicians were aware of experimentation and engineering of LENR (Low Energy Nuclear Reaction) patented products which would make the expensive and radioactive process obsolete within a few years.

Another reason the nuclear industry is desperate for a lifeline from governments: A majority of the 400 odd reactors around the planet have either met –or are about to meet- de-commissioning dates mainly because of a type of concrete decay called alkali-silica reaction (ASR). As with cement bridge spans, massive nuclear reactors cannot be safely refurbished after such fatal defects appear.

Three contenders for the new energy crown are:
1. Brillouin

2. E-Cat X

3. SunCell

In spite of the self-interest of Big Nuclear and a deplorable effort on the part of our elected servants, the worlds’ poorest will soon have access to cheap electricity, while our ageing boomers and industries will have the option of pulling the plug on the grid.
Indeed, what our little blue planet and its peoples need most is affordable and equitably distributed energy -not unrealistic attempts to control atmospheric CO2.

May the first to market with the lowest cost distributed LENR product win the crown.
And may the next crop of politicians have to swear an oath to DO NO HARM.
